Stackers

Stackers are bulk stockpiling machines that are used to stack material in stockyards in different shapes according to specific requirements. A stacker’s function is to stack or pile material on to a stockpile for later reclamation and use - a reclaimer is generally used to reclaim or recover the stockpiled material.

Stacker functionality

Stackers typically move on a rail between stockpiles in a yard and usually have three directions of movement, depending on requirements:

  • Horizontally along the rail
  • Vertically by luffing (raising or lowering) the boom
  • Slewing, which is rotation of the stacker around its central axis and may not always be a requirement

 

Our stacker range

TAKRAF supplies a complete range of stackers for the heaping of circular or longitudinal piles, as well as for the homogenizing and blending of bulk material. The structure of the stockpile is dependent on the specific requirements of the various bulk processes, ie. chevron, windrow, strata or cone shell.

 

Designing according to our client’s unique requirements

Our machines are all specifically designed to our client's unique requirements and incorporate various solutions according to their specific application. Our typical machines cover the following flow rates and sizes:

  • Capacity:                    300 t/h to 20,000 t/h
  • Outreach:                   15 m to 60 m
  • Rail gauge:                 4 m to 12 m

We have supplied a variety of different machines across numerous commodities around the world, each with their own specific configuration that is fit for purpose. Depending on specific requirements, we are able to supply machines with a boom length of up to 200 m.

 

Typical design structure

Our machines generally boast a typical design structure and include a hydraulic lift system and counterweight at the rear end of the boom, although we have built machines to handle ore which boast an L-frame, a rope winch and a horizontal swivel boom. We offer machines with and without slewing ability.

 

Radial stacker

A particularly intricate and special design that we are also able to provide is what is known as a "radial stacker". This design is employed in order to produce a circular-shaped pile and the design relies on a central point of rotation on a circular rail.

    Stackers with elevator conveyor

    These two stackers are operating with one reclaimer on the same rail track. The two stackers have one feeding conveyor. Therefor the first stacker in the line is equipped with a bypass system. Both stackers have an elevator conveyor. The stackers are of slewable and luffable design and can be operated in automatic mode from the control room or in remote mode.
